A singing South Yorkshire duo has been named ‘Wedding Musical Act of the Year in the North East,’ at the 2016 National Wedding Industry Awards.

Brett Jackson and Andrew Lingard scooped the prize at an awards ceremony in North Yorkshire last week, which recognised and rewarded excellence in the wedding industry.

The pair, both from Barnsley, first met in college where they started performing together in bands, before forming their acoustic act, known as 24 Live.

24 Live has played at more than 100 Yorkshire weddings in the past year and Brett said the award was the icing on the cake of a fantastic year for the duo.

“We were thrilled to be selected as the regional winners in our category,” said Brett, aged 25.

“The 2015 wedding season has been fantastic for us and we’re proud to have received such fantastic feedback from all of our customers that helped to secure us this recognition.”

Brett and Andrew, who are members of the Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce, also run their own music business in the town. The business, also named 24 Live, provides wedding and corporate entertainment, runs a local recording studio, provides creative workshops and host a series music and media sessions in Barnsley primary schools.

The national final will be held in London in January.
