Singing in an Olympic key

Have your say

CHOIRS from Sheffield will be taking to the stage on Saturday to perform a specially-composed piece in honour of the Olympic Games.

The event is taking place at City Hall from 7.30pm, and is the finale to Alight, a day-long performing arts festival.

Choirs taking part include the Sheffield Philharmonic Chorus, City Opera, Bach Choir and BeVox.

The composition, called Olympic Triptych, has been written by BeVox’s musical director Timothy Allen, and the singers will be joined by an orchestra and brass ensemble.

Alight is part of the BBC’s Music Nation weekend, partly sponsored by the organisers of this year’s London Olympics.
