'˜Significant' police presence in Rotherham after armed bank raid

A '˜significant, high visibility' police presence remains in Rotherham tonight following an attempted armed robbery.

The attempted armed robbery on Yorkshire Bank on Broad Street, Parkgate, Rotherham, happened at about 8.50am.

Armed robbers who tried to hold up a Rotherham bank are on the run.

Tonight, South Yorkshire Police issued an update which stated: “A significant, high visibilty police presence remains in the Parkgate area this evening following an attempted, armed robbery today at the Yorkshire Bank on Broad Street.

“The investigation is underway and a number of enquiries have already been conducted, with officers continuing to investigate and police resources remaining in the area to carry on searching and provide reassurance to the community.

“Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident is asked to call police on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111, quoting incident number 203 of 29 January 2015”
