BOXING fans packed a punch for a fundraising drive by the family of a Sheffield fighter battling cancer aged eight.

Sheffield Boxing Centre held a charity show at Sheffield United’s Bramall Lane football ground and raised £1,075 for an appeal set up by the family of Ben O’Brien.

The Ecclesfield Primary School pupil and his family were invited to the gym to meet those who took part and collect a cheque.

Glyn Rhodes, who runs Sheffield Boxing Centre, Burton Street, Hillsborough, Sheffield, said: “We had 15 bouts overall and a raffle with prizes such as sweets, beer and wine, which had been donated. It was a good evening and we managed to raise a large amount.”
