Shots reportedly fired as gunman 'threatens people in South Yorkshire home'

Shots were reportedly fired after a gunman allegedly threatened terrified residents in their own home.

The incident happened in Wickett Hern Road in Armthorpe, Doncaster at 6.40pm last night and armed police were deployed to the scene. A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said the officers responded to "reports that a man had threatened the occupants of a house on the road with what is believed to be a gun.

"The suspect is then said to have left the scene and a short while after, shots were reportedly heard. Officers can confirm that no damage was caused to the house and no one was injured during the incident."

The arrested man remains in police custody today. Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.
