Shots fired through front door of house in Sheffield

Shots were fired through the front door of a house in Sheffield police have revealed.

The house in Osgathorpe Road, Pitsmoor, was targeted at 12.45am on Monday, May 30 but police have only now released details of the incident.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "The occupants of a house on Osgathorpe Road, Pitsmoor, were woken by the sound of a loud bang.

"Officers were called and discovered a tennis-ball sized hole in the front door of the house, believed to have been caused by shots being fired.

"After carrying out extensive enquiries, detectives are now asking if you have any information about the incident."

Detective Constable Paul Lydon said: “While I understand incidents like this can seem alarming, I want to reassure residents that we believe this was an isolated incident and there have been no further incidents of this nature since.

“We have already followed up a number of lines of enquiry in relation to this incident and I would now like to ask if you have any information about what happened.
