Shops and offices ready for approval in Sheffield

Proposals to knock down a former furniture shop and put up a building with new shops and offices are expected to get the green light.

Under the plans, Saxon House on Broadfield Road would be demolished to make way for a three-storey building providing three retail spaces and small office units, along with meeting rooms and car parking.

The existing single-storey building was previously used by The Furniture Company, but is now ‘in a very poor condition, unsightly and deteriorating rapidly’, councillors will be told at a planning committee meeting on Tuesday.

There have been no objections to the plans, which are recommended for approval.

“The proposals will re-use a brownfield site in a location within walking distance of high-frequency bus services and close to complementary business and retail uses,” said planning officers.
