RETAILERS from a Sheffield shopping centre are joining forces for a charity campaign to raise cash for Macmillan Cancer Support during its centenary year.
The 34 stores from Crystal Peaks have signed up to The Star Business Challenge, a fundraising appeal set up with the leading cancer charity as it marks 100 years of its life-changing work.
The cause has been chosen as the shopping centre’s Charity of the Year and the team has pledged to raise £8,000 over the next year.
Activities will include go-green days and a host of different sponsored events.
Rebecca Staden, fundraising manager for Macmillan in Sheffield and Chesterfield, said: “We are thrilled to have been chosen as Crystal Peaks charity of the year.
“As it is a very special year for Macmillan I am really grateful to them for all the support they will give.
“They are so enthusiastic about supporting the centenary challenge and the fact they have recruited over 30 retailers to also take part is fantastic.
“The £8,000 they have pledged to raise would fund 320 hours of Macmillan nursing care that will support hundreds of people affected by cancer.
“Every pound raised for the centenary challenge makes a huge difference, it is easy to join and you will have all year to raise as much as you can.”
