Shoppers give away their food

BIG-hearted supermarket shoppers donated 8,000 meals for people suffering food poverty over the festive season.

They dropped in tins, coffee and dried food like pasta at Sainsbury’s stores acrosss Sheffield on Saturday in a project with charity FareShare.

Nationwide, 1.2 million meals were collected for the hundreds of charities FareShare provides food for daily.

Locally causes like Emmaus Sheffield will benefit thanks to those who gave at Sainsbury’s on The Moor, at Crystal Peaks and the branch on Archer Road.
