SHOP staff cycled a gruelling 40 miles across Derbyshire to raise cash for their charity of the year.

Sophie Connelly, Chris O’Donnell, Jack Christopherson, James Ball and Lauren Mark, who work for Eurospar in Broomhill, Sheffield, got on their bikes for the NSPCC children’s charity.

The group rode along the Monsal Trail, through Bakewell, Hassop and Ashford-in-the-Water, to take in beautiful scenery last weekend.

Store manager Tim Farmer, who joined the ride, praised the staff.

He said: “The efforts have helped to raise over £400 for the charity which will now see the store almost half way towards its £6,000 fundraising target for the year.

“The weather was a bit mixed, it was quite sunny in the morning then it tipped it down but everyone kept going. All the staff have done really well and put a lot of effort into the day.

“Thanks to everybody who sponsored us on the cycle ride.”
