Residents in Shiregreen have increased their safety awareness after a visit to the Lifewise Centre.

Visitors were taken on an interactive journey around the centre at Hellaby, Rotherham, which highlighted key safety messages such as doorstep crime, fire safety in the home, fraud prevention, internet protection and home security.

Shiregreen Community Homes, part of Sanctuary Housing, funded the trip which was open to all residents and people living in the Roman Ridge sheltered scheme.

Keith Watts, watch manager at South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, said: “Events like this which give vulnerable, older people experiential, scenario-based learning in a cutting edge facility such as Lifewise form a key part of our strategy to make South Yorkshire safer.”
