Sheltered housing scheme could open at former car park in Sheffield

A sheltered housing scheme with more than 50 homes is planned at a former car park in Sheffield.

D Noble has applied to build 54 homes for older residents, plus lodgings for a caretaker, at the site on Park Drive Way, in Stocksbridge.

The company wants to create a four-storey building on the land, which was until recently used as the car park for a neighbouring social club.

It claims the development would make a 'significant' contribution to the area, with residents supporting local businesses and potentially volunteering for local charities.

Two people have complained about the plans, with one arguing the height is excessive and another saying the number of homes now proposed is significantly higher than plans which were previously approved for 24 and later 39 homes at the site.
