Sheffield’s worst pothole made an unwelcome return...before being filled in again.

The huge hole in the road on busy Derek Dooley Way, was plaguing motorists this morning.

But the hole has been filled in gain – but motorists fear it will be back again soon.

One angry motorist said: “Sheffield Council needs to do something about this pothole – they keep doing makeshift repairs which last a few weeks but then it appears again and is getting bigger and bigger each time.

“Yesterday the carriageway was in a terrible state, I would be amazed if no vehicles were seriously damaged from it.

“I know Derek Dooley Way is a busy road and that carrying out a proper repair would be costly and cause congestion but something needs to be done.

“There could easily have been a crash yesterday with motorists swerving to avoid the damage.

“Sheffield Council needs to put its hand in its pockets and pay for a proper repair. I thought it had millions of pounds to spend on improving every road and pavement in the city?”
