Heavy rainfall couldn’t dampen their spirits as 180 players joined representatives of the Neurocare charity at Hallamshire Golf Club on June 10 for the 11th annual golf fundraiser.

They managed to raise more than £24, 000 for Sheffield hospitals’ neuro wards - which is a whopping £9000 more than their previous best total.

The day was supported by representatives from 45 companies from across the region who event organisers said ‘brought fantastic energy and spirit to the day and even when the day was hit by torrential rain the merriment still continued’.

Sophie Thomas, Neurocare’s fundraiser, said: “We are astounded by the support of local businesses, with their help we are all helping Sheffield to continue to remain as a centre of excellence for Neuroscience in the UK, thank you.”

Hundreds of people are admitted to Sheffield’s NHS neuro wards every year with life-threatening brain injuries and conditions. The money raised will go towards buying life-saving equipment and funding pioneering research to explore enhancements in neurosciences.
