Sheffield's Jamie Vardy hits back at '˜vile' Twitter trolls over sexual threats

Sheffield's Jamie Vardy has criticised Twitter users who made sexual threats against his one-year-old daughter.

People responded with vile comments to a post by the Leicester City and England striker’s fiancee, Rebekah Nicholson, which included a photo of the toddler wearing a Foxes shirt on Sunday, just before his team beat Southampton to extend their lead at the top of the Barclays Premier League to seven points.

She responded to one, saying: “There are no words for people like you! You need locking up.”

And Vardy himself posted a screenshot of the threats, with the words ‘shocking and vile’.

A spokeswoman for Leicestershire Police said: “We are aware of the tweets and are liaising with the club. No formal complaint has yet been made.”

Vardy made his name playing for Stocksbridge Park Steels FC before rising up the leagues. He is finalising a £250,000 deal for an autobiography to be published this autumn.
