Sheffield's '˜Bomber' back on the runway at Kell Brook show

The Sheffield powerhouse slipped to his first defeat on a Kell Brook undercard, last March.

But the 25-year-old hopes to re-build his reputation as the ‘Birley Bomber’ on Brook’s latest show, on March 26.

His manager Richard Poxon is arranging an international title fight, as chief support to the Brook v Kevin Bizier IBF world title showdown.

“When I get this fight out of the way I think I will be back in the mix” said the middleweight, who has a Won 19, Lost 1 record.

“The fight that I lost (against Sergey Khomitsky, who fights Londoner John Ryder this weekend for the vacant WBA International middleweight title) - I am not making any excuses.

“I was winning fairly comfortably I just got caught with a decent shot and that’s what happens in boxing. It is what it is.

“I will be back. And hopefully I will be involved in some of those big fights later down the line.”

Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn said he was also excited by the appearance of Barnsley super featherweight Andy Townend on the bill.

Hearn described the 26-year-old as “one of the most exciting punchers in British boxing right now.

“He has huge support will be bringing plenty of fans to the Arena” said Hearn.

Townend (15+ 3) has 10 knockouts to his credit and had a busy 2015 - he was out five times, beating the likes of Lee Glover and Femi Fehintola.

“Two young men from the Ingle gym, Jordan Gill and Leigh Wood, two of the top talents in the featherweight division are on the bill as well.

“There will be other championship fights too.”

South Yorkshire heavyweights Dave Allen and Richard Towers clash in a British title eliminator.
