ROWENA has been designed to provide materials that simulate similar tissue handling, tactile feedback and anatomical accuracy to that of a real head.
Two medical students/foundation doctors work at each ROWENA station with 1 neurosurgical trainee as a demonstrator. This workshop improves neurosurgical trainee’s’ teaching abilities along with increasing experience and skill set in future neurosurgical trainees, ultimately resulting in improved patient care in the upcoming future.
Post-workshop feedback showed that all medical students and foundation doctors that attended the workshop felt more confident about attending and assisting in theatre following the workshop. Sheffield Teaching Hospitals were delighted to host the third NANSIG and SBNS workshop and are looking forward to hosting a fourth workshop in the near future.
This workshop would not have been possible without the kind sponsorship provided by B Braun, Delta Surgical and Association of Surgeons in Training (ASiT).
