Rachel Hackett was one of 21 members of the Apatchy Warriors team who completed the annual 10k Total Warrior Challenge in the Lake District last weekend.

The 26-year-old and her teammates braved miles after mile of thick mud and up to 30 obstacles to complete the course and raise more than £4, 500 for Alopecia UK.

Rachel wanted to support the charity as she has suffered from alopecia - an autoimmune disease which causes bald patches - since she was a child.

The day of the challenge also coincided with International Alopecia Day on Saturday, August 6.

Rachel said: I’ve had alopecia on and off since I was about two-years-old.

“I have been wearing a wig for the last two years but happy to go without it to go swimming, go to the gym or to just pop to the shop.

“I’m also getting married next year which is exciting.”

One of the other team members, former Italian rugby league team head coach Carlo Napolitano, also took part as he has had alopecia since the age of four.

He said how he has overcome the problems causes by the condition but added that it “used to be tough” as people used to stare at him.
