Coming back from losing positions has been one of Wednesday's big strengths in recent seasons.

The Owls have secured 24.1 per cent of possible points after letting in the first goal (39 points in the last three years), according to in-depth analysis from Bookmaker bwin. Only one team recovered more points in the entire division.

The report also revealed that Wednesday were among the biggest aerial threats in the Championship, with 22.5 per cent of the club's efforts on goal coming from headers since 2015. Only two teams in the league had more headed opportunities than the Owls.

The statistics also highlighted, unsurprisingly, that Fernando Forestieri was the Hillsborough club's main goal threat. The talismanic Argentine-born player notched 27 goals, finding the net every 201 minutes.

Forestieri, who will miss the Owls' next three fixtures after admitting a Football Association charge of violent conduct following the part he played in the mass brawl in the pre-season friendly against Mansfield Town, also contributed 11 assists during this period.

As for weaknesses, Bookmaker bwin pinpointed that Wednesday, who qualified for back-to-back play-offs under former boss Carlos Carvalhal, have been one of the weakest teams at defending set pieces in the second-tier. More than 32 per cent of the goals the Owls conceded between were set plays (43 goals in three years).

Their shooting accuracy has also not been up to scratch. Only 28 per cent of the club's shots have been on target, ranking them 22nd in their current division over the last three campaigns.

Another area where Wednesday were found wanting is conceding early. Twenty three goals were shipped in the first 15 minutes of matches over the three year period, putting them third-bottom in the rankings.

Bookmaker bwin assessed every club's performances over the last three seasons to identify where teams are most dangerous as well as the areas they need to address.
