Midfielder Kirby and defender Baker have been included in a number of matchday squads in recent weeks by Owls boss Jos Luhukay.

Kirby made his Wednesday debut as a late substitute in their comprehensive 3-0 victory over Reading last month while Baker is still waiting to make his first senior appearance.

Luhukay told The Star: “Yes, it is possible (they could play). Connor played his first minutes in the last home game against Reading. He has been in the squad a couple of times and so has Baker.

“They are players who we have a very good view of and they trained with us on Tuesday. I think there were 10 players with the Under-23s and U18s with us so we give them the opportunity and chances.”

Wednesday will be searching for a sixth win in nine matches when they welcome the 12th-placed Canaries to Hillsborough on Sunday, kick-off 12:30pm.

“We will have pre-season to work on different things and we are positive about the future,” said former Hertha Berlin chief Luhukay. “But first we have the game on Sunday and we want to make the last game very well for us and with a good result.

“Then after this the players can go and rest and then we will think about the pre-season.

“When we have the results and the points we have from the last two months, you can normally play near the first six positions with this kind of form.

“But I said from the first day until now, this team has very good mentality and character, there is progression in the team, we can see that, and we are on a good way.

“We will go into the break and come back to work intensively ahead of the new season.”
