Carlos Carvalhal has been impressed by his players during the international break

The two-week pause in play causes debate amongst players, managers and fans depending on the result.

Some say that after a win it's good to build up momentum while if the team loses then there's a belief that it's better to try and rectify that quickly.

However, for Carvalhal no games mean more opportunities to put in some quality time on the training pitch and that's exactly what they have been doing.

"Some time people say it's not good to break this because we are in a good way but it is not my feeling," he said.

"When you have a lot of games and have time to refresh the mind and push players who are not playing, to improve things in your team, for me it is positive.

"This is the same. I think it was a good time to improve things and I hope on Saturday we can express on the pitch what we did this week because our players and our team this week, really, they trained very well, very good attitude, very strong attitude."

Carvalhal had singled out Fernando Forestieri for praise for the forward's application in training, saying “I think we have Fernando back again, really back again. This week, two weeks, but especially this week, he has been very, very strong, very powerful, with fantastic attitude and I am sure if he expresses, and he will express on Saturday, what he is doing these two weeks we will be with better Fernando again."

It hasn't just been Forestieri who has impressed though, as Carvalhal added: "I mentioned Fernando but I can mention most of the players because really they trained very well but as I tell you, you will see the game on Saturday, not see what we did during the week and this is the most important."
