Goalkeeper Keiren Westwood has challenged the Owls to bounce back quickly following their defeat to Reading, starting at home to Yorkshire rivals Barnsley tomorrow night.

Roy Beerens’ second-half brace sentenced Wednesday to their first Championship loss in four matches.

Substitute Steven Fletcher’s late header proved too little too late for the Owls.

Westwood said: “It’s still really tight in the table and I’m sure we will bounce back.

“We have got some good derby games coming up against Barnsley and Rotherham. Barnsley have picked up in recent weeks, beaingt Birmingham 3-0 and Norwich over the weekend, so we have to start well.

“Hopefully HIllsborough will be rocking. The players want to play in big games so hopefully we can get two good results.”

Westwood refused to be too downhearted after the Reading result, saying: “Reading are third in the league and are a good side at home.

“They had the bit the between their teeth especially after last week (lost 5-0 at Fulham) but I thought we contained them quite well.

“We had a couple of great chances in the second half and if one of them goes in it is a totally different game and I think we go on and win it. You have to take your chances.”

He was left frustrated at the goals Wednesday let in.

“Reading scored a deflected goal and the second one just came back from a long ball,” said Westwood.

“They were disappointing goals to concede but we have to learn to take our chances when we get them.”
