Full back Hunt says the Owls do not concern themselves with the chase going on below, but rather are on focused on clawing back ground on the five teams above them in the division.

“We’re not really looking down, we’re looking at the teams above us,” he said.

“If you start worrying about teams behind you, you could maybe falter or not play your game.

“We just need to keep getting points on the board, that’s all that matters.”

Victory at Nottingham Forest today could move Wednesday up to fifth in the table.

Draws for top two sides Newcastle United and Brighton and Hove Albion in midweek reignited the race for automatic promotion and the Owls currently sit ten points off the pace.

While admitting Wednesday face a tough task to overhaul the points margin, Hunt says they must simply endeavour to keep their winning run going.

“Ten points is a big gap but we just have to look at it game by game,” he said. “If we can win another three games we will be climbing the league.

“We’ll just see where that takes us, but it is a big gap, there’s no hiding from that.

“We never talk about promotion though.”
