The centre half has been out with a knee injury since mid-December but this week returned to full training.

And he could be thrown straight back into action with head coach Carlos Carvalhal likely to make numerous changes for the trip to the League One outfit.

Carvalhal was typically tight-lipped on injuries when he met with the media ahead of the fourth round tie but did say: "We can say we are very optimistic about the players who have been out and nearing a return."

The Portuguese has opted to make plenty of changes for cup competitions on occasion this season.

But he insists whatever team he names will a strong one and that his players are completely focused on the task at hand.

He said: "We are taking this game very seriously.

"Whenever Sheffield Wednesday play, we play to win and I will name a team to do that.

"We must go there and give our opponents full respect.

"If both teams are at 100 per cent, we will have more chances. That is normal.

"But we must be at 100 per cent and the players' attitudes are very important.

"They are ready for this challenge."
