Sheffield Wednesday: Thorniley wants Owls to finish with a flourish
Wednesday all but secured their second-tier status after defeating Hull City 1-0 at the KCOM Stadium last weekend.
Thorniley told The Star: “We are pretty much safe now. We want to enjoy the last three games and restore a bit of pride for the fans. We will hopefully build something for next season.”

Hide AdThe 21-year-old played his part in helping the Owls record a first clean sheet in over two months.
“We defended well,” he said. “We limited Hull to few clear-cut chances.
“We could have stopped a few more of their shots from outside the box and some of their crosses but we were a compact unit.
“I thought we really defended well off the ball considering Hull had been scoring frequently and we did well to shut up shop.
“It was good that we got the win.”

Hide AdHe was also full of praise for Jordan Rhodes. The Owls forward notched his seventh goal of the season, rising to nod in Jack Hunt’s pinpoint delivery from the right wing.
“It was massive for Jordan and he will take confidence from that,” said Thorniley. “He played well. He held the ball up well. He blew up with a bit of cramp near the end but he has not played a lot.
“Hopefully he will get a few more goals before the end of the season.”
