The Owls have won their last nine League Cup matches at Hillsborough in a run dating back to 2008, when they were knocked out by south Yorkshire rivals Rotherham on penalties.

Wednesday and Wolves last faced off in the competition in the 1976/77 season, when the Owls came out on top 2-1.

In the Championship last season the two sides recorded one 0-0 draw and Wolves won the other fixture 1-0 in their title winning campaign.

Owls fans will have good memories of Premier League clubs visiting Hillsborough in the competition, after winning 1-0 against Fulham in August 2012 and Arsenal in 2015.

Team news

Jos Luhukay could be set to field another young team tonight after a number of impressive debut performances from his academy graduates in recent fixtures.

The matches have been coming thick and fast for Wednesday so far this month, and although some injured players have returned to training they are still likely to be without Gary Hooper, Sam Winnall and Kieren Lee.

Steven Fletcher is also a doubt, as is Ivan Cavaleiro for the visitors.
