Sheffield Wednesday: The Stoke City ace back to take on Owls

Sheffield Wednesday are virtually certain to face attacker Paul Ince on Saturday even though Stoke City manager Gary Rowett is playing a guessing game.

Ince has recovered from a hamstring injury and will play at Hillsborough as the Potters look to turn round a stuttering start to their Championship campaign.

The only question is whether he will be given a role on the left or right wing.

'He's worked hard, Incey,' says Rowett. 'I think there's a pretty good chance he will be selected. He was playing very well before he got injured. He's got great quality.

'He gives us an added goal threat from that right-hand side. I don't think he's solely stuck to that right-hand side. I think he can also play off the left."

Ince's return is a boost for the Potters who lost James McClean to a broken during the international break. McClean was injured while training with the Republic of Ireland squad.

Wednesday will be without Ferdando Forestieri as the Argentine forward begins a three-match ban for the part he played in a braw at the end of a friendly at Mansfield Town in pre-season.

Stoke, relegated from the Premier League campaign last term, are among the favourites for promotion but are in 18th place after their opening six games brought a solitary win, two draws and three defeats.

Wednesday, following three wins in their last three league encounters, are 11th.
