The ex-Rotherham United boss will bring current club Leeds United to Hillsborough today for what is sure to be a fiery derby clash.

“I do think they can win promotion – I thought that at the start of the season,” he said. “The new owner said very clearly that his aim was to be in the Premier League within two years.

“From what I hear from agents, I don’t think they’ve finished spending either.”

Evans named current Owls Barry Bannan, Fernando Forestieri and Kieran Lee as players he has attempted to sign in the past.

And he said he is expecting a tough game in S6 this lunchtime.

“They’re disciplined and they’re very deserving of where they are in the league.

“You see them securing a lot of these boys on three year deals so it looks to me like everyone at Sheffield Wednesday is highly delighted with what they’ve got.”
