The 27-year-old initially joined Sheffield Wednesday on loan from Chelsea in January 2014 before making the deal permanent that summer.

He featured prominently in the Owls reaching the Play-Off Final last season and has started eight of their nine Championship fixtures so far this campaign since boss Carlos Carvalhal moved him from midfield into defence.

Centre-back Hutchinson said: “When I was on loan here, it was the most I had ever played consistently so I don’t see why I would go to a different club after my history and try and change it.”

Hutchinson has two years left to run on his Wednesday contract but conceded: “I’m looking to sign a long-term contract here as long as possible and fingers crossed that I can.”

When pressed on if he would be interested in finishing his career at Wednesday, Hutchinson replied: “Yeah. I’ve got no need to go anywhere.

“My family are happy in Sheffield. The fact of the matter is if the club doesn’t want me and another one does and they offer me ridiculous, stupid wages it might change.

“But I love Sheffield Wednesday at the moment and everything is hunky-dory.”

The Slough-born player is set to line up against Blackburn Rovers tonight. Left-back Daniel Pudil (thigh) and midfielder Barry Bannan (foot) face late fitness tests.
