Sheffield Wednesday: Ross Wallace confident he will get new Owls deal

The winger signed a one-year contract when he arrived at Hillsborough from Burnley last summer.

Following Saturday’s play-off final defeat to Hull City, Wallace revealed he had held encouraging talks with the Wednesday hierarchy about extending his stay.

When asked about a new deal, Wallace said: “I’m not worried about that.

“I have spoken to the owners. They are happy.

“Hopefully I will get a long extension for two years of so.”

Wallace made 48 appearances during his first season with the Owls, scoring six goals and making ten assists.

The Scottish winger netted in both legs of the Championship play-off semi-final with Brighton and Hove Albion and also scored in the 3-0 Capital One Cup win over Arsenal at Hillsborough.

Back in March, Wallace insisted he would definitely be with Wednesday next season.

He said: “I have loved every minute of this season.

“It has probably been one of the most enjoyable years of my career.

“The club has been brilliant with me so far so I’ve got no worries about my contract.”

Other contracts set to expire this summer include those of goalkeeper Lewis Price, midfielder Jose Semedo and striker Caolan Lavery.

Loan deals for Daniel Pudil, Vincent Sasso, Alex Lopez, Michael Turner, Joe Bennett and Aiden McGeady have now expired following the end of the season.

Development squad players Ryan Croasdale, Ryan Meadows and Will De Havilland are among the young players out of contract.
