Atdhe Nuhiu, Sean Clare, George Hirst, Dan Wallis, Warren Clarke and Jack Lee have all been offered new contracts and are yet to sign.

Frederico Venancio and Jacob Butterfield's loan contracts come to an end after this Sunday's match against Norwich.

The early release of the news may have been prompted by a message from Wallace on Tuesday afternoon.

The midfielder had hinted that his time at the club had come to an end when he posted on his instagram page: "A massive thank you for your support since I’ve arrived, I’ve loved every minute of being at this amazing club and wish the fans and players the very best of luck in the future."

The news also gives fans an opportunity to say farewell to a great servant in skipper Loovens who made 149 appearances for the Owls, scoring one goal.

A statement on the club's website read: "Sheffield Wednesday would like to thank each of the departing players for their services and wish them well for the future.
