Sheffield Wednesday prepared for a battle at Bolton Wanderers

Sheffield Wednesday skipper Glenn Loovens says the Owls have to be ready to dig in for a fight when they face Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.

Wednesday travel to the Macron following a two week break for internationals with confidence high after their 3-0 win over Leeds United at Hillsborough.

Bolton are still yet to win this season in the league and are currently bottom of the Championship but Loovens believes Phil Parkinson’s men will present a physically tough task for Wednesday.

Loovens is now fit and available for selection following a hip injury picked up in the second game of the season against QPR and could come into contention for a starting role at the back.

And should he be selected, the 33 year-old is bracing himself for a battle against the basement side.

“Every game is difficult in this league,” he admitted.

“The next game, another team that is at the bottom of the league and will be fighting for every yard.

“We know it’s going to be tough and we have to make sure that we’re ready for the battle that it is probably going to be.”

Former Owls striker Gary Madine will offer exactly that kind of physicality and Loovens is wary of the threat posed by the Trotters frontman.

He added: “He’s very good in the air. He’s very good at what he does and we have to prepare for that.”
