Here's how we rated them

A couple of half decent saves but really he could have spent the match on the Kop, such was his lack of action in the Owls goal

Liam Palmer 6

Pushed forward well and looked more than comfortable on the rare occasions that Rotherham attacked down the left side

Glenn Loovens 5

Like his team mates he’d very little to do but the skipper did get away with one as he appeared to lose Tom Adeyemi in the build-up to the ‘goal’ that wasn’t given

Won what he had to, played the ball out well at times and tried to begin the attacks from the back, but it was a stroll for a lot of the game

Daniel Pudil 5

Disappeared for large parts of the game and while under little pressure defensively didn’t provide enough going forward

Kieran Lee 5

Looks like he needs a rest. Couldn’t get into the game and having come off at half time with an injury it was then apparent why he had struggled.

Sam Hutchinson 7

The unchallenged heartbeat of the Wednesday side - he drove the team on, especially in the final stages of a hugely frustrating match

Almen Abdi 5

Looked to be doing alright on his return but was taken off injured after just 34 minutes

Adam Reach 6

A few good runs but not nearly enough and a player of his quality should have been putting more pressure on a leaky Millers defence

Lucas Joao 6

Inside the box (aside from winning a penalty) he was abysmal but to his credit the forward’s link-up play and work-rate were excellent

Steven Fletcher 7

Not enough created to give him chances to score but he battled with the defence and showed an assured calmness to fire in the penalty kick

Substitutes

Ross Wallace 6

A willing runner when coming on for Abdi and at least tried to make things happen

David Jones 5

Did what he always does he wasn’t the man Wednesday needed to unlock Rotherham

Atdhe Nuhiu 5

Put himself about after replacing Pudil but never looked like scoring

Referee

Tim Marshall 4

Shocking. Ruined a potentially good game by being over-officious
