A family of Sheffield Wednesday supporters welcomed Jose Semedo into their home after they entered a social media competition to meet the player.
Becky Richardson, from Brinsworth, Rotherham, entered a competition to meet the midfielder on Wednesday’s official Instagram account.
Hundreds of fans entered by re-posting the competition image and tagging the official account @swfcofficial in their competition entry.
Jose visited Becky, her husband Chris, her mum Lynn, dad Ken, nine-year-old son Jay, 11-year-old daughter Kailey and one-year-old son, Cal.
Jay, who goes to Rawmarsh St Joseph’s school and plays for Brinsworth Whitehill, spoke to the player about his career.
“Semedo was the nicest man I’ve ever met, I hope I can be like him one day,” he said.
“I’m going to train hard and work hard like he told me too. Then maybe I can play for Wednesday when I’m older too.”
His footballing idol said: “I’ve always said that our fans are my favourite thing about this club and meeting this family made me realise that even more.”
