Sheffield Wednesday: Owls ready for 'physical' Millwall clash

But Butterfield is under no illusions at the size of the task facing Wednesday today in their quest to reignite their stuttering promotion bid.

The Derby County loanee told The Star: “I’m expecting a physical game. Millwall play direct and a physical game.

“We have to stand up to that but we need to out perform them to win the game. The reason why we’ve done well in the last two seasons is because we are capable of out-performing teams.”

Wednesday lie in 16th position after securing just one victory in their last seven league outings.

“I think everybody wishes we were doing better and wants to do better,” said Butterfield, who is in the frame to make his first home start. “But the mood in camp is still good between the players.

“We still believe in what we’re doing and that we are going about things in the right way and I think that’s important.

“We need to be more efficient. What we do between both boxes is very good and the way we play football is very good but I just think we need to be better in both boxes.

“We’ve got to stop conceding so many poor goals from our point of view and be more ruthless in front of goal.”

Millwall, last year’s League One Play-Off winners, are above the Owls on goal difference and will be seeking to pick up their first victory on the road this evening.

Manager Neil Harris said: “Wednesday have got an absolutely fantastic squad of players.

“If you look at how much they assembled their frontline for. They’ve got the same squad that went very, very close to the Premier League last season.

“We’ll have to be as good as we were at Cardiff to get the points.

“I expect a Tuesday night trip to Hillsborough to bring out the best in my players. It’s a fantastic football theatre. It’s what I’d class as a real old-fashioned football ground. I used to love playing there. I expect my players to thrive on it.”
