Sheffield Wednesday: Owls look to tame in-form Tigers
The Tigers have scored 11 goals in their last three Championship matches, including a 5-0 thumping of relegation-haunted Burton Albion in midweek. Wednesday have gone 11 matches without keeping a shut out and Thorniley, who was deployed at left-back against Queens Park Rangers, accepts a number of “lapses in concentration” have cost them over the last two months.
But the 21-year-old is backing the team to deliver a strong defensive performance in their penultimate away fixture of a poor season.

Hide Ad“It’s definitely a big task but we are capable of keeping a clean sheet,” Thorniley told The Star. “There are good players in the team who can keep clean sheets but we have to concentrate for the whole 90 minutes.”
Injury problems and a lack of consistency has troubled Wednesday throughout the campaign. After a three-match winning run, Jos Luhukay’s men have now lost their last two fixtures.
Thorniley said: “You have good and bad runs in football. With this season, it has been up and down. Mainly down.
“The manager came in at a difficult time. He has got us to a position where we are more or less safe. I think we are one win from being mathematically safe.”
