The 17-year-old, who penned his maiden Owls contract last month, fired home a 56th minute winner after latching on to Devante Rodney’s neat pass at Sheffield FC’s Coach & Horses Ground.

Wednesday were indebted to a fine goalkeeping display in the first half by Dan Wallis, who produced a string of fine saves to keep their West Yorkshire counterparts at bay.

Connor O’Grady was a tower of strength at centre-back while young striker Rodney put in a hard-working shift up front.

Victory extended Neil Thompson’s team’s unbeaten run to three matches.
