Sheffield Wednesday: Owls duo can trouble Tigers, reckons Warnock
Neil Warnock believes Wednesday's forward line are capable of causing Hull City big problems in the Championship Play-Off Final.
After seeing off Brighton and Hove Albion over two legs, Carlos Carvalhal’s men will face the Tigers at Wembley on Saturday, May 28.
Carvalhal is expected to stick with Fernando Forestieri and Gary Hooper up front, with the duo having plundered 28 goals between them this season.
Warnock, who opted to leave Rotherham United earlier this week, expects the all-Yorkshire Final to be an entertaining contest.
“I wouldn’t write them [Wednesday] off,” said ex-Sheffield United chief. “They have players like Forestieri and Hooper who could trouble Hull.
“Hull have more experience, but as they showed against Derby they can have their days when they freeze. Steve [Bruce] will be hoping it’s not one of those days.
“Wednesday have nothing to lose and it’ll be a cracking game.”
When Warnock took charge of the Millers in February, the club were in the Championship relegation zone.
But Warnock, who has managed at 14 clubs in a 36-year career, led them to safety following an 11-match unbeaten run. One of their victories came at Hillsborough where they edged a tight clash courtesy of a Matt Derbyshire strike.
