Fletcher, who sat-out the second half of last season due a serious knee injury, has gone 22 matches without finding the back of the net for club and country.

But the Scotland international is refusing to panic despite his barren spell in front of goal.

He told The Star: "If I get one, I feel I will go on a run.

"It happens with strikers. We see it year in, year out where a goal just kick-starts you.

"But I'm not thinking about it. I just want to keep playing, getting minutes under my belt and staying injury free."

Manager Jos Luhukay, whose side travel to second-from-bottom Reading tomorrow, has spelt out in no uncertain times what he expects to see from his strikers.

"He wants us to work hard and put the miles in up front," said Fletcher. "If you do that, hard work always pays off and you will get your chances.

"Look at the Hull game. It was probably the most chances I have ever had in a game for a long time. Obviously, I didn't take them but I know the chances will come if I keep working hard and getting in good positions."

Meanwhile, Ash Baker has earned his first Wales U21 call-up. The defender, who has made three Owls appearances this season, has been selected in the Wales squad for their two forthcoming Euro 2019 qualifiers.

Wales entertain Liechtenstien on Friday, September 7, followed by Portugal on September, Tuesday 11, at VSM Stadium, Bangor.
