Sheffield Wednesday: New Owls kits on hold
Sheffield Wednesday will not unveil their new kits for next season until chairman Dejphon Chansiri is fully satisfied with the designs.
With less than six weeks to go until the start of the new campaign, Wednesday have yet to reveal the new designs nor announce a launch date for the shirts.
It is understood Chansiri has been unhappy with the quality of samples provided by current kit manufacturers Sondico and has requested redesigns.
And he will continue to refuse to sign off on the new kits until fully satisfied.
Wednesday are entering the third and final year of their current deal with Sondico, a brand of retailer Sports Direct.
A slightly altered version of Wednesday’s new club crest has been released.
The owl has been made larger and given a wide-eyed look in the redesign.
Wednesday have confirmed their EFL Cup tie at Cambridge United will take place on Tuesday, August 9.
And the Owls have also announced six pre-season friendlies for the club’s development squad, featuring traditional local fixtures.
Neil Thompson’s side will begin their pre-season programme at Wigan Athletic on July 13.
On July 15 they visit Worksop Town before a trip to Hallam FC on July 18.
The U21s face Sheffield FC on July 21 and travel to Leicester City on July 26.
The friendlies are concluded with a trip to Stocksbridge on July 30.
