The highly-regarded winger, looking to make his full Owls debut at Birmingham City tomorrow, is poised to remain at Hillsborough for the rest of the campaign.

The 29-year-old still has two and a half years left on his current contract with Everton but has featured just once for his parent club this season.

“I will see how I do over the next four to five months and we will see what happens after that,” said McGeady, who completed his move to Wednesday on transfer deadline day. “My main goal is to be playing, help the team push for promotion and go to the Euros.”

The Republic of Ireland international insists the Owls can still secure automatic promotion. Carlos Carvalhal’s troops are in seventh position, eight points off the top-two placings.

McGeady said: “There are 17 games left; that’s 51 points to play for. There is not that big a gap between us and the top two.

“The club has got aspirations to play in the Premier League and the team has had a good season so far.

“There’s a good chance of making the play-offs and, if they go on a good run, of getting automatic promotion. The ideal scenario would be for me to come and play and hopefully help the team get towards promotion.”
