The Frenchman, who started his career with French top flight outfit Nantes, is currently on loan from Braga until the end of the campaign.

Sasso has helped the Owls make a 100 per cent start to 2016 and admits he would be interested in prolonging his stay.

“We will see what happens,” he said. “Of course, I feel really great here and I hope I will stay.”

With Sam Hutchinson, Michael Turner and Tom Lees all sidelined, head coach Carlos Carvalhal turned to Sasso to partner captain Glenn Loovens at the heart of their rearguard.

The 24-year-old has enhanced his reputation with three polished performances in a row.

Sasso said: “I am really happy. The most important thing is to win the game, but if I can play, I am really happy.

“I was struggling with my knee at the beginning and am really happy to be fit again and helping.

“I always try to do my best and after, we will see when they are coming back.”

He added: “We did great in the two games against Fulham and Bolton was really hard and more difficult. But we won, that’s the most important thing. Now it’s three in a row in 2016. We have to keep going.”

Sasso enjoyed playing alongside Loovens.

“Glenn is the captain and has a lot of experience and it is really nice to play with him,” he said. “He speaks to me a lot out on the pitch and really helps me. I am glad to play with him.”

Wednesday welcome Yorkshire neighbours Leeds United to Hillsborough targeting a fifth win in their last six matches.

Sasso said: “I played the whole game against Leeds and the atmosphere was amazing. I hope we will win this game because this is a derby and is really important for the club and supporters. I hope the fans will be massive but we already know they will be there to push the team and its going to be great.

“There is still a long way to go and we have to stay focused and take it game after game.”
