Sheffield Wednesday: Jos Luhukay plays down the Owls' defensive issuesÂ

The Owls shipped in another two goals in the midweek defeat at Nottingham Forest as they fell to 13th in the Championship rankings.

Luhukay freshened up the full-back positions, handing recalls to Ash Baker and Morgan Fox, but Wednesday were unable to nullify Forest's attacking threat and record a first league shut-out this season.

Lewis Grabban broke the deadlock in the 41st minute, heading in a peach of a Ben Osborn free-kick to claim his first Forest goal, and Joao Carvalho also got on the scoresheet in the second half to lift the gloom around the City Ground.

"A clean sheet is not important when you score more than the opposition," Luhukay told The Star.

"In the first-half like Wednesday, you would go in 0-0 and sort it yourself in the second half. The goal was not in a good moment. 

"We then had a free kick and chance to maybe score and then they made a second goal and it was difficult to come back."

The Dutchman, who rested defenders Liam Palmer and Matt Penney, described their attacking play as "very poor" against Forest.

Luhukay said: "On the ball, we must play more football and not lose control in the game. In the first half, they had no real chances apart from the free-kick. 

"In the second half, we should have played better football to create more pressure.

"We did not have stability on the ball and enough rest and passing combinations."

Wednesday are sweating over the fitness of defender Jordan Thorniley (calf) as they prepare to face Aston Villa at Villa Park. 

"Jordan was the best player in the team," said Luhukay. "We will see what it exactly is.

"We must see how the team is and see who is with us for Aston Villa."
