Wednesday, last season’s play-off semi-finalists, have endured a frustrating campaign and are poised to finish in the bottom half of the table.

Despite a lengthy injury list, Luhukay has stabalised their results, overseeing five victories from their last eight fixtures.

Goalkeeper Wildsmith, rested for the final three matches, told The Star: “I think the manager has done well with what he’s had to work with. There’s been a lot of injuries which hasn’t helped.

“To be fair the manager doesn’t know what his best team is yet because he’s not seen all the players.

“So next season it will be really good for him to get all the players back in pre-season, or just after, and see what he’s got to deal with and move forward with that.

“Hopefully he can find his best team and that’s enough for us to push for promotion.

“If he’s going to bring in some new recruits as well that will be great, but all the lads who are the club, including me, have just got to give everything they’ve got and we can all push on together.”

Wednesday round off the 2017/18 season at home to Norwich City this Sunday, kick-off 12:30pm. Tickets for the North Stand have sold-out and fans have been urged to buy their tickets well in advance.
