Sheffield Wednesday: Joao or Nuhiu? Who scored the second Owls goal?

Match-winner Lucas Joao has laughed off suggestions that his Sheffield Wednesday strike partner will try to steal Saturday's crucial goal from him.

Portugal international Joao marked his first start of the Championship season by hitting the target twice in the 2-1 win over Ipswich Town as the Owls climbed to 13th in the table with their second victory in four days.

But fellow attacker Atdhe Nuhiu was lurking in the 77th minute at Hillsborough to get a touch as Joao's second effort of the game crossed the line.

"No, he was there just to make sure the ball was in," the 25-year-old grinned. "I hope it was my goal!"

Joao, fit again after a groin problem, headed Wednesday in front and then won the match for Jos Luhukay's side with another header after Ipswich had equalised five minutes before the break by Aristote Nsiala.

Nsiala was later given a straight red card for a challenge on substitute Fernando Forestieri.

When his goals were described as "scruffy", he said: "The best goals from any striker are when they simply go into the goal. They all count the same.

"Football can be beautiful and goals can be beautiful, but the most important thing is that they go in."

After failing to win any of their opening three league games, the Owls have been lifted by successive victories against Millwall and Ipswich

"This is football and the Championship," Joao added. " You have a lot of games in a short space of time and things can change very quickly."
