So far this term Carlos Carvalhal’s side have suffered from inconsistency, but they have won four of their last six and are still just on the fringes of the play off places, going into Sunday’s match against leaders Huddersfield Town at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Wallace, though, believes that it won’t be too long beffore the team clicks into gear and their aim is hang around the top long enough to take advantage come the New Year.

“If we continue to get another four wins that would keep us right in there,” he said.

“Come Christmas you want to be hanging around the top six, top eight area and then after Christmas put on the burners and then go for it.”

Wallace says the biggest difference between this season and last is that the Owls haven’t been as dominant and that’s what he wants to see change.

“At times we have bene really good, we’ve played some really good stuff, it’s just 10-15 minutes of games we have not performed we have been,” he added.

“In these sorts of games you are going to get punished.

“If you look at Forest, we were on top and Lansbury has hit a shot and its came of Baz’s foot and gone in.

“Little things like that have went against us.

“We are playing well enough, we are doing enough to win games at the minute but obviously with the players we have got we want more than that, we want to dominate teams and beat teams three or four, that’s our target.

“You have got to look at the squad of players, once we put that together...Look at the positives, we are not that far away from the top end so you once we put it all together we’ll be a force for the latter part of the season.”
