The 15-goal attacker, named the Owls’ Player of the Year at The Star Football Awards on Wednesday night, has blossomed since arriving at Hillsborough in a £3m deal from Watford at the end of August.

Speaking exclusively to The Star, Forestieri said: “I love this club. I love the team, the fans and players. The chairman has told me to sign for Wednesday another 10 years!

“I feel so good here. I love playing for this club. I hope I can finish my career here.”

The 26-year-old has praised head coach Carlos Carvalhal for helping turn him into one of the most feared strikers outside the top-flight.

“I’m so happy because Carlos has shown a lot of faith in me.” he said. “I didn’t play so good in the first four or five games after I joined the club because I wasn’t fit.

“But Carlos supported me and carried on playing me in every game. He gave me my chance and I think I have taken it.”

The Argentine-born player admits he has enjoyed working with Carvalhal and believes the Portuguese chief deserves plenty of plaudits for their promotion push. Wednesday booked their place in the Championship Play-Offs with an impressive 3-0 win over Cardiff City last weekend. They will learn the identity of their Semi-Final opponents tomorrow. It will be either Middlesbrough or Brighton and Hove Albion, who go head-to-head at The Riverside in an automatic promotion decider.

Forestieri said: “Carlos has done very well. He has to think about 30 players and it is not easy for a coach.

“I love his personality. He has given me a lot of confidence and always encourages me to do my best, which is brilliant for me.”

Carvalhal has confirmed Forestieri and combative midfielder Sam Hutchinson, who is just two bookings away from triggering a three-match suspension, will sit-out tomorrow’s trip to mid-table Wolverhampton Wanderers, kick-off 12:30pm.

Carvalhal has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the Owls’ final fixture of the regular season.

However, the former Sporting Lisbon and Besiktas boss has indicated he will rest a number of his senior players in preparation for the Play-Offs.

Experienced winger Ross Wallace completes his three-match ban.
