Sheffield Wednesday: Hutchinson poised for Owls return

Sam Hutchinson is in contention to make his Sheffield Wednesday comeback against table-topping Hull City tomorrow night.

The former Chelsea youngster has not featured in the Owls' last three Championship fixtures because of a knee problem he sustained at Birmingham City earlier this month.

But head coach Carlos Carvalhal, speaking at his press briefing today, has confirmed Hutchinson could feature in Friday's Yorkshire derby.

"I think Sam will be available," said the Portuguese chief. "He will travel and is ready if we need him to play."

Leading goal-scorer Fernando Forestieri is expected to start, having sat-out Tuesday's home draw with Queens Park Rangers due to suspension. The 12-goal forward served a one-match ban in the wake of his red card at Preston North End.

Carvalhal said: "He is fresh to play. It makes a difference he didn't play on Tuesday."

Wednesday have allowed Jeremy Helan to join Wolves on loan for the remainder of the campaign, but Carvalhal has revealed they can recall the left-sided player after 28 days.

"The deal is good for all parties," he said. "Jeremy is a young, talented player.

"He talked with me because he wants to play more. I understand that absolutely and Wolves wanted a player like him.

"It's important to him to play and there is a possibility we can recall him in the future."
