Sheffield Wednesday: Huddersfield's poor pitch no problem for Owls

Carlos Carvalhal insists the surface at Huddersfield Town's John Smith Stadium will not be an issue when his Sheffield Wednesday side visit West Yorkshire today.

Town's pitch, like Wednesday's is not in great shape, but the Owls head coach says his players can cope with that.

"The pitch is probably not good," said Carvalhal. "I saw some images and the pitch seems not with a good quality, but I think both teams have quality even with not a good pitch to play on, to play football.

"I believe it will be a tough game for us. It will be an interesting game but we are optimistic, we have energy, we have energy and we think that we can bring points from this game."

Carvalhal added that Wednesday's own facilities mean that they are well used to working on pitches that could do with some work.

"Our facilities is not young so we are training with a pitch that is not good," he said. "When we play with a pitch that is not 100% it is not strange to us. And when we play on a pitch of a better quality this is something that we like, our players are happy to play on a good pitch. It is not a problem."
