Carlos Carvalhal’s men returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion last weekend, thumping Nottingham Forest 3-0 to secure a first victory in six outings.

The result kept them in sixth spot, but Cardiff City and Ipswich Town are only one behind them with nine matches remaining. Ninth-placed Birmingham City are four points adrift of the top-six positions, although they have a game in hand on the Owls.

There is a strong possibility the promotion race will go the distance, but Hooper is calling on Wednesday to maintain their concentration levels.

The 11-goal forward insisted: “We will just worry about ourselves. We are all feeling very confident.

“We know we can play really good football and we showed that against Forest. The main thing is defending well as a team as we will always create chances. As long as we defend well, we should win games because we have got players who can take chances.”

Meanwhile, Wednesday’s trip to promotion rivals Derby County on April 23 will be screened live on Sky Sports. It was scheduled to kick off at 1.00pm but will now get underway at 12.30pm.
